Considered one of the three great night views in the world, Mount Hakodate offers
a panoramic view of Hakodate Harbor and the city between the Tsugaru Straits.
The "morning and night view," which offers city lights and the morning glow,
is a spectacular sight where visitors can enjoy the fantastic and serene beauty of the city.
Hakodate Haristos Orthodox Church
Walk: about 12 min.
The oldest Orthodox church in Japan, with a beautiful exterior of white walls and green roof,
representing the exotic atmosphere of the city.
It has been designated as a national treasure, and its beautifully tinkling bell has been recognized
as one of the "100 Best Soundscapes of Japan.
Former Hakodate Ward Public Hall
Walk: about 16 min.
A typical western style building from the Meiji era. Designated as a National Important Cultural Property,
it is a historical landmark that graces the streetscape of Hakodate.
Furniture and furnishings from the period are displayed in the elegant interior of the building.
Hachimanzaka
Walk: about 12 min.
Hakodate Hachimanzaka is a beautiful hill with a single straight road that leads straight to Hakodate Bay.
The name comes from the Hakodate Hachiman Shrine that once stood on the hill.
In winter, the roadside trees and cobblestone pavement are beautifully lit, attracting many visitors to the scene.
Goryokaku
Car: about 14 min, train/bus: about 38 min
Goryokaku, located in Hakodate, Hokkaido, is famous as the setting for the TV drama "Seiten wo Tsuke" and the manga "Golden Kamuy", and the movie version of "Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Pentagram".
This unusual star-shaped fortress is especially beautiful during the cherry blossom season.

Hakodate Morning Market

Hakodate Asaichi is a huge market with about 250 stalls located in a large area near Hakodate Station.
In addition to selling seafood unique to Hokkaido, such as crab and salmon, the market is popular for its live squid fishing experience, which originated in Hakodate, and its fresh seafood rice bowls.
Trappistine Monastery
Car: about 20 min, train/bus: about 66 min
The Trappistine Monastery, located on a hilltop in Hakodate, was the first contemplative women's monastery in Japan.
Known as a place of prayer, visitors can reflect on themselves in a tranquil setting.
Tours are available, and handmade items made by the nuns are for sale.
Yunokawa Hot Spring

One of the three major hot spring villages in Hokkaido.
Visitors can enjoy two types of hot spring water, shiroyu (white water) and akayu (red water), and the warm water of the chloride spring will relieve your fatigue.
The hot spring resort area is also full of day-trip hot springs and places to eat and drink, making it a fun place to spend the day.
Cape Tachimachi
Car: about 30 min, train/bus: about 24 min
Cape Tachimachi is a steep cliff that juts out into the Tsugaru Strait.
It is a representative scenic spot of Hakodate, showing various faces such as the beautiful contrast of Japanese rosebay, and at night when the fishing lights of squid fishing boats shine brightly.
The graves of Ishikawa Takuboku and his family are also located here, making it a popular destination for literature lovers.
